Email Vacation Mode

When you go on vacation, and want to notify people who email you with an automatic reponse, here’s how to put your mailbox into ‘vacation mode’:

  1. Log into SquirrelMail by clicking here and entering the username and password for this mailbox.
  2. Click on the Options menu along the top row.
  3. Click on Message Filters in the list of squirrelmail options.
  4. Press the Add a New Rule button
  5. In the CONDITION section, press the Less… button twice, so that you only have one row.
  6. Change the drop down that says ‘Header’ to ‘All’.
  7. In the ACTION section, select the radio button that reads “Vacation: The notice will be sent only once to each person that sends you mail, and will not be sent to a mailing list address.”
  8. On the field that says Addresses: Only reply if sent to these addresses: you must enter a list of email addresses that you want to have vacation activated on. For example: sales@domain.com,bob@domain.com
  9. Change the default message to one that suits your purposes.
  10. You can skip the ADDITIONAL ACTIONS section.
  11. Press the Add New Rule button! You are now done, and any mail sent to this mailbox should get an automatic reply!  It will also only respond once if they send you additional emails.
